3 Years
A designer first.
It started with ink.
I trained at the Herron School of Art and cut my teeth in an Indianapolis advertising agency, working everything from startup launches to Fortune 500 campaigns. I designed for pharma companies and for rock bands, sometimes in the same week, and worked my way from art director to creative director. Paste-up boards, type, and a stubborn belief that clear beats clever.
Then the web showed up. Most of my peers saw a curiosity. I saw a storefront that never closes, and I taught myself to build for it while "webmaster" was still a job title people said with a straight face.

Started in graphic design
Print, identities, and campaigns, learning the thing that still matters most: how to make information clear and trustworthy.
Moved onto the web
Hand-coding business websites before there were shortcuts, templates, or YouTube tutorials to lean on.
Built a business of my own
Started my first venture with my husband, learning the owner's side of every decision firsthand.
Founded Sumner Digital.
Today it gives in-house marketing teams senior strategy and creative on a flexible retainer.

After one too many calls from owners with hacked WordPress sites and nobody to help, Scott and I built the company we kept wishing existed: one partner that owns hosting, security, maintenance, design, and SEO, and answers the phone.
